Alt-Frequencies is an audio narrative game set in a time loop. The player experiences the game through a fictional radio set that allows recording and broadcasting interactions to expose radio hosts, conspiracy theorists and politicians.
Audio direction, sound design, musical design and voice mixing (English, French and German)
The audio artistical direction is centered around the plurality of radio identities. Jingles, musical backgrounds, voice mixing and ambient sounds are designed to create a specific tone and atmosphere for each station and context.
Amongst these are the highly compressed voices and EDM-heavy jingles of Fresh FM, the serious and solemn headline drums of News One, the analogue-sounding Pickup Frequency conversations, the mysterious, glitchy field recordings of Pirate Station and the low-budget microphones of Campus Radio.
As the game is accessible to visually impaired players, UI, feedback, narrative and aesthetic content were designed to be diegetic, easily understandable yet emotionally enticing for a complete audio experience.
